AlterModern

Altermodern is the main exhibition showing contempury British and internation Art as part of TATE Britans 4th Triannual. It is curated by Nicolas Bourriaud the former curator of the palais de tokyo and famous for Relational ascetics . In this show he is showing artists he thinks are alternative to Post modern and maybe the next movement of Art.

I through this show was very well curated. I liked how all the Art works where spaced apart usaly in a room of there own this meant all the audiences attention was focused on one piece and was not distracted by other works in the view. Most of  the works where shown in large "white Cube" rooms and videos in Blacked out rooms except for the works in the first room which was part of the main hall in TATE Britain there it was dull light (possibly due to 2 video works being shown) so u couldn't see the non video works to well. The worst part of the lay out of the show for me was you had to go throught the shop half way through this broke the idea of the gallery a bit for me.

I liked how the show only shows current artists and nearly all the works there had been made the year before and all the artists are currently practicing artists. How ever im not sure if Nicolas Bourriaud is right that Altermodern is the new move in art as alot of the work didn't seem to different form other contemporary art that i have seen.
